Border Terriers are a lively, outgoing breed. Active without being yappy. Weighing approximately 14 to 18 pounds they fit in well with country dwellers as well as city. A Border's harsh coat texture protects him well from the elements. Hand stripping is necessary to maintain a neat appearance and can be done even by the beginner. This is a breed that loves children as a general rule. They are easily trained. But don't let that fool you into thinking he will listen at all times! The Border Terrier has been bred as a hunter for centuries. Hunting vermin cannot be easily trained out of him, if at all. A securely fenced yard or walking on lead is a must with Borders in todays busy world. |
