Ketka Border Terriers began in 1972 with the purchase of a female pup. Unfortunately this pup met an early fate brought on by a genetic health problem.
My second Border came in 1974. This was Dalquest Ketka's Kritter, CD. She was bred to CH Beaverwood's Bold Blaze, a handsome blue and tan. They produced 5 pups, 4 of which went on to become AKC Champions.
Ch Little Fir Robroy's Robin,CG joined us in 1976. "Robin" was the dam of Ch Ketka Swashbuckler,CG. Born in 1977 "Rudy" as he was known, produced 22 AKC champions out of 52 sired. Of these are Group Winners: Ch Kaldes Katrina, Ch Ketka Short Circuit,CG, and Group Placers: Ch Beaverwood's Rawhide Rattler, and Ch Luvemur's First Edition. "Rudy" made the most impact on our dogs in the early days.
Ch Ketka Short Circuit is the dam of Best In Show winner Ch Ketka Qwik Charge of Dalfox, CDX, who is the sire of BIS winner Ch Feorrawa Ketka's Cagney, and Cagney sired BIS winner Ch CB's Do Be Sirius.
Ch Luvemur's First Edition is the dog the obedience "Eddie Award" is named after.
Today's winners go back to these dogs plus others that joined the ranks as the years went by. Prominent 'outside' stud-dogs past and present are: Ch Trail's End Ring My Chimes "Buzzie", Ch Otley-Kakara Idle Talk "Larry", Ch Otley's-Ketka Manito "Manny", and Ch Dogwood's Newt "Newt".
